Maarika alustas oma tavapärast hommikujooksu suvistes eeslinnatänavates.
Maarika began her usual morning run on the suburban streets in the summer.
Oli suvi, ja linnud laulsid puude latvades.
It was summer, and birds sang in the treetops.
Selline rahulik hommik, mille Maarika pühendas enesele.
Such a peaceful morning, which Maarika dedicated to herself.
She loved those quiet moments when the only sound reaching her ears was her own breathing and the crunch of running shoes on the asphalt.
Kuid täna oli see teisiti.
But today was different.
Maarika wasn't even halfway through her run when she was surprised by an unexpected visitor - a seagull.
Large and feathered gray, this bird decided to follow her, even landing on her shoulder.
Maarika peatus ehmunult.
Maarika stopped, startled.
She tried to get rid of the bird by waving her arms and quickening her pace, but the seagull did not give up.
Maarika teadis, et peab midagi ette võtma.
Maarika knew she had to do something.
Ta proovis erinevaid meetodeid linnust lahti saada.
She tried different methods to get rid of the bird.
Kord viis tee teda tihedalt istutatud hekkide vahele, lootes, et kajakas kaotab huvi.
Once the path led her between tightly planted hedges, hoping the seagull would lose interest.
Then she tried turning into side streets and heading for the water fountain, thinking that the bird's attention might quietly shift at any moment.
Kuid kõik ilma eduta.
But all to no avail.
Kuid kajakas pidas kinni, otsekui oleks Maarika olnud midagi erilist.
However, the seagull held on, as if Maarika was something special.
Vihjeks järgi andes proovis Maarika lõpuks taskust leitud müslibatoonist paar puru maha pudistada, kuid see plaan nurjus samuti.
Giving in to a hint, Maarika finally tried to sprinkle a few crumbs from a muesli bar found in her pocket, but this plan also failed.
The seagull seemed to prefer her company more than treats.
Lõpuks lobises Maarika pargiteele, hingeldades ja pisut närviliselt.
Finally, Maarika stumbled onto the park path, panting and slightly nervous.
Seal, väikese lauaga piknikualal, istusid Toivo ja Liina tüütut päeva alustamas.
There, at a small table in the picnic area, Toivo and Liina were starting their somewhat bothersome day.
Kohvi ja juustuleivad olid nende ees.
Coffee and cheese sandwiches were in front of them.
“Vajasin seda väga,” naeris Maarika lähenedes, peas paanika.
“I really needed this,” laughed Maarika as she approached, a hint of panic in her head.
"Appi, aidake mind, mul on sabas..." viipas ta pead kajaka poole.
"Help, help me, I have a tail..." she nodded her head in the direction of the seagull.
Toivo, with a slight smile, stood up and tore his sandwich into pieces.
"Võib-olla on see näljane," ütles ta rahulikult.
"Maybe it’s hungry," he said calmly.
Nüüdseks turtsuvalt naerdes heitis Maarika pilgu linnule.
By now Maarika was chuckling and she glanced at the bird.
Toivolt visatud võileivatükid maandusid veidi kaugemale, ja kajaka tähelepanu pöördus hetkeliselt võileivapuru suunas.
The sandwich pieces thrown by Toivo landed a little further away, and the seagull’s attention shifted instantly towards the sandwich crumbs.
Lind laskis Maarikal minna ja suundus hoopis eemale söödud tükke uurima.
The bird let Maarika go and instead headed off to investigate the scattered pieces.
Maarika puhates istudes, Liina poolt pakutud joogipudeleid vastu võttes, märkas, kui eriline tundub see suvise hommiku vahejuhtum tema silmis.
As Maarika sat relaxing, accepting the offered water bottles from Liina, she realized how special this summer morning's incident felt to her.
Mis algas tülinaks, muutis ta suvepäeva säravamaks.
What started as a nuisance made her summer day brighter.
"Kuidas te teate, alati kuidas mind aidata?"
"How do you always know how to help me?"
tänas Maarika oma sõpru, tundes sisimas uut rahu.
Maarika thanked her friends, feeling a new peace inside.
And so they sat there for a long time, all three, the woman and her friends, and the birdsong turned into a joyful backdrop for the moment of silence.
Each thought about how well they are these small summer mishaps, and how important is the friendship that makes their day fresher.
