Suve palavik oli jõudnud Roomasse.
The summer fever had reached Rooma.
The city was vibrant and noisy, the air filled with the aroma of spices and dust.
Toomas, Eestist tulnud osav taimeteadlane, seisis esimest korda Rooma turul, imetledes linna suursugusust.
Toomas, a skilled botanist from Eesti, was standing for the first time in a Rooma market, admiring the grandeur of the city.
He had always dreamed of coming to this metropolis to learn and share his knowledge.
However, he did not imagine that this summer would become the turning point of his life.
Roomas oli lahti puhkenud salapärane haigus.
A mysterious illness had broken out in Rooma.
Inimesed hakkasid ootamatult nõrgenema, palavikku tõusma.
People began to weaken unexpectedly, their fever rising.
Rooma arstid olid murelikud, kuid nad eirasid Toomast.
Rooma doctors were worried, but they ignored Toomas.
"Barbar," sosistasid nad tema kohta.
"Barbarian," they whispered about him.
Nad ei usaldanud tema võõraid ravimeetodeid.
They did not trust his foreign healing methods.
Toomas ei andnud alla.
Toomas did not give up.
He watched the doctors secretly, studied their notes, and listened to their discussions.
At night, when the city was quiet, he sneaked to the hillside surrounding Rooma to search for the necessary herbs.
Liina ja Mihkel, Toomase uued sõbrad Roomas, aitasid tal ravimtaimi koguda.
Liina and Mihkel, Toomas's new friends in Rooma, helped him gather medicinal plants.
Koos töötasid nad ööd ja päevad, põnevil ja lootusrikkad.
Together they worked day and night, excited and hopeful.
Aeg tiksus aga pingsalt.
However, time was ticking intensely.
Peagi murdis haigus kohutava uudise - senator Marcus oli voodis, hingamas raskelt.
Soon the disease broke the dreadful news - Senator Marcus was bedridden, breathing heavily.
Roomas puhkes ärevus.
Anxiety erupted in Rooma.
Toomas teadis, et see on tema hetk.
Toomas knew this was his moment.
Tal oli ainult see üks võimalus.
He had only this one chance.
He stepped into the marketplace, the sunlight reflecting off his sweaty skin.
"Mul on ravim," hüüdis ta, tema hääl tungides üle rahvahulga.
"I have the remedy," he shouted, his voice piercing through the crowd.
Rooma arstid, kes platsil olid, irvitasid.
The Rooma doctors in the market sneered.
"Laseme sellel barbaril end naeruvääristada," ütles üks naeruga.
"Let this barbarian embarrass himself," said one with laughter.
Toomas approached Senator Marcus, reached into his soft bag where the herbs were.
"See on minu lootus," sosistas ta ja andis ravimi senatorile.
"This is my hope," he whispered and gave the potion to the senator.
Aeg venis.
Time stretched.
Rahvahulk ootas, pinges, jälgis.
The crowd waited, tense, watching.
Kuni lõpuks avas senator silmad ja hingas sügavalt sisse.
Until finally, the senator opened his eyes and took a deep breath.
Ta näis tugevam, taastumas.
He seemed stronger, recovering.
Hiiglaslik kergenduse ohe kostus üle väljaku.
A gigantic sigh of relief echoed across the square.
Toomas tundis, kuidas tema süda paisus uhkusest.
Toomas felt his heart swell with pride.
Rooma arstid vaikisid, kuid nende silmades oli nüüd lugupidamine.
The Rooma doctors were silent, but now there was respect in their eyes.
Senator tänas Toomast, andes talle avalikult tunnustuse.
The senator thanked Toomas, giving him public recognition.
Pärast seda tundis Toomas end kindlana.
After that, Toomas felt confident.
He realized that his conviction and work were invaluable.
But he also learned humility and the need to understand and respect other cultures.
Nüüd, kui päike loojus Rooma üle, mõtles Toomas, et tal on lõpuks siin koht, kuhu kuuluda.
Now, with the sun setting over Rooma, Toomas thought he finally had a place to belong here.
Thus, he continued his journey in Rooma, carrying the knowledge of Eestimaa and the wisdom of Rooma.
See oli alles tema tee algus.
This was just the beginning of his path.
