  • Tallinna Teletorn oli kaetud paksu lumevaibaga, mida talvine päike õrnalt särama pani.

The Tallinna Teletorn was covered with a thick blanket of snow that the winter sun gently made sparkle.

  • Suurte klaaside taga paistis Tallinna panoraam nagu kaunis pilt.

Behind the large windows, the panorama of Tallinn appeared like a beautiful picture.

  • Kuid just täna seisis Krete seal ja tundis, kuidas tema süda kiiresti peksis.

But today, Krete stood there feeling her heart race.

She had traveled around the world seeking adrenaline, yet heights secretly terrified her.

She stood in the elevator, stroked her camera, and waited to reach the observation platform—the goal was to get the perfect picture.

  • Kuid korraga, sel hetkel, kui vaated muutusid avaramaks, peatus lift.

But suddenly, just as the views became more expansive, the elevator stopped.

  • Vaikus.

    Silence.

  • Ta haaras tugevalt liftiseinast kinni.

She grabbed onto the elevator wall tightly.

Her breathing quickened, and her eyes grew as large as cartwheels.

"Hopeless, we’re completely stuck," said Taavi, who was in the same elevator, planning to wrap up his day quickly and go watch a football game.

He was a technician but more interested in dedicating himself to the field tonight than working.

  • Krete otsustas end rahustada.

    Krete decided to calm herself.

She knew that fear could be overcome by focusing on something else.

  • Ta pöördus Taavi poole: "Mis jalgpallimängu sa vaatama lähed?"

She turned to Taavi: "What football game are you going to watch?"

Taavi was surprised, but he immediately started talking: "A friendly match between Eesti and Soome.

Looks like I’ll have to watch it live on my phone’s screen."

  • Krete naeratas veidi ja kuulas.

    Krete smiled slightly and listened.

Taavi spoke passionately about the game, his favorite players, and the previous match.

  • Aja jooksul hakkas hirm taanduma, Krete meeldivas vestlusesse ja vaatas korraks isegi aknast välja.

Over time, the fear began to fade, and Krete became engaged in the conversation and even glanced out the window.

It seemed that Tallinn stretched its beautiful streets before them, serene in the winter enchantment.

  • Lõpuks kuulsid nad lühikest müra, ja lift hakkas liikuma.

Finally, they heard a brief noise, and the elevator started moving.

  • Hetkeks jälle peatus.

For a moment, it stopped again.

  • Krete pigistas silmad kinni, hingas sügavalt sisse ja arutas enda sees iseendaga, nagu tungiks läbi suure makhidest.

Krete squeezed her eyes shut, took a deep breath, and reasoned with herself as if pushing through a massive obstacle.

Then suddenly, the elevator moved onward and stopped at the ground floor.

  • Uksed avanesid.

    The doors opened.

  • Krete tundis kergendust.

    Krete felt relieved.

She took a deep breath and smiled at Taavi, who was checking his watch and grumbled familiarly.

  • "Krete, sa oled tubli," ütles Taavi pooleldi naeratades.

"Krete, you did well," said Taavi with a half-smile.

  • "Ja sa nägid ju, kõrgus ei hammusta."

"And you saw, heights don’t bite."

  • Krete noogutas.

    Krete nodded.

She had overcome her fear and learned that a calm mind always helps.

Taavi knew to himself that even though he didn’t see the game live, he had a good day.

A day when he learned an important lesson in patience and calm.

  • Koos astusid nad lumeselja alla, lahkudes Teletornist, igaüks natuke teisiti kui hommikul kohates.

Together, they stepped out into the snowy path, leaving the Teletorn, each a little different than when they met in the morning.
