Kalle istus Tallinna politseijaoskonna ooteruumis.
Kalle sat in the waiting room of the Tallinna police station.
Tol päeval oli väljas eriti värviline sügis.
That day, it was an especially colorful autumn outside.
Vihmapiisad langesid aknaid kastmas ja tuulehoog puhus pahinal läbi puulehtede.
Raindrops fell, soaking the windows, and a gust of wind rustled through the tree leaves.
The station itself was cold and formal, full of silver decorations and bright lights.
Evelin, noor ja energiline politseinik, kutsus Kalle lõpuks enda juurde.
Evelin, a young and energetic police officer, finally called Kalle over.
„Palun istu,“ ütles ta lahkelt.
"Please, sit," she said kindly.
Kalle istus ja hingas sügavalt sisse.
Kalle sat down and took a deep breath.
Ta pidi Evelinile rääkima Kumu kunstimuuseumist kadunud maalist.
He had to tell Evelin about the painting missing from the Kumu art museum.
Kalle felt like his whole world weighed on his shoulders.
„Maal, mida me taastama pidime, varastati,“ alustas Kalle murelikult.
"The painting we were supposed to restore has been stolen," Kalle began worriedly.
„See oli minu vastutusel.
"It was under my responsibility.
Mu reputatsioon on kaalul.
My reputation is at stake."
“Evelin kirjutas kiirelt üles kõik detailid.
Evelin quickly wrote down all the details.
Kalle teadis sisimas, et tema vanad sõbrad kunstimaailma underground’ist võisid olla sellega seotud.
Kalle knew deep down that his old friends from the art world's underground might be involved.
Mihkel, Kalle vana sõber, oli kindlasti midagi kuulnud.
Mihkel, Kalle's old friend, had certainly heard something.
Politseijaoskond näis Kalle jaoks veelgi kõledam, kuna tema peas keris mõtet, kas rääkida tõtt või otsida lahendus iseseisvalt.
The police station seemed even more desolate to Kalle, as he wrestled with whether to tell the truth or find a solution on his own.
He knew that talking to the police about his past might cast suspicion on him.
However, he couldn't let his friends down either.
Järgmine päev leidis Kalle end kohtumas Mihkliga vaiksel tänaval.
The next day found Kalle meeting with Mihkel on a quiet street.
Sokutatud vihjetega, said nad kokku Kalamajas, kohas, kus tuul rebis lahtisi kastaneid puudelt.
Through subtle hints, they met up in Kalamaja, a place where the wind tore loose chestnuts from the trees.
„Kalle,“ ütles Mihkel, silmad kavalalt pilkudemängus, „kuulsin, et sul on mure.
"Kalle," said Mihkel, eyes playing a sly game of glances, "I heard you have a problem."
“Kalle seisis seal, süda peksmas.
Kalle stood there, heart pounding.
„Mihkel, ma pean teadma, mida sina sellest tead.
"Mihkel, I need to know what you know about it.
See maal peab tagasi jõudma.
That painting must come back."
“Mihkel vaatas ringi.
Mihkel looked around.
„Mul on sõnad mitmelt sõbralt.
"I've heard words from several friends.
Tead, kes nad on,“ sosistas ta.
You know who they are," he whispered.
Mihkel pakkus leppida, andes infot maali asukoha kohta.
Mihkel offered to cut a deal, providing information about the painting's location.
Kalle oli valmis tegema raskeid otsuseid.
Kalle was ready to make tough decisions.
He had to choose whether to betray old friendships or trust his own perseverance.
Then he realized – he could use his skills for a hidden purpose.
Kalle töötas kiirelt.
Kalle worked quickly.
Mihkli vihjete abil suutis ta leida maali peidupesa.
With Mihkel's hints, he managed to find the painting's hiding place.
He took the painting and stayed hidden overnight, planning his next move.
Early in the morning, when the sky was still gray and sleepy, he returned the painting anonymously to the station, leaving it quietly beside the door.
Evelin leidis maali ja algatas uurimise.
Evelin found the painting and initiated an investigation.
Kalle jälgis vaikselt, süda rahuliku tänutundega.
Kalle watched silently, his heart filled with calm gratitude.
Tema minevikust sai uue alguse osa.
His past became part of a new beginning.
He realized that the secrets of the past could also help shape the future.
The autumn sun broke through the clouds, warming Kalle's heart and giving hope that everything would be fine.
Without betraying his friendship, he remained true to himself and his calling.
