The leaves were turning golden and red when Kert and Maarika arrived at the family farm again.

The air was cool and enchanting, filled with the scent of autumn.

  • Kert, vanem vend, nautis vaikust.

Kert, the older brother, enjoyed the silence.

He looked around and saw the fields of grain shining in the bright light.

"The farm is our heritage," he said more to himself than to Maarika.

  • Maarika seisis tema kõrval.

    Maarika stood beside him.

  • Ta hingas sügavalt sisse, kuid tal puudus vendlik side maaga.

She took a deep breath, but lacked her brother's connection to the land.

  • "See koht on vana," ütles Maarika, käed risti, "Me peaksime selle maha müüma ja alustama uut elu."

"This place is old," Maarika said, with arms crossed, "We should sell it and start a new life."

  • Kert raputas pead.

    Kert shook his head.

  • "See pole lihtsalt koht.

    "It's not just a place.

  • See on meie juured, Maarika.

    These are our roots, Maarika.

  • Meie vanemad töötasid siin.

    Our parents worked here.

We can't just leave it behind so easily."

  • Tõusis kerge tuul.

    A gentle breeze rose.

  • See viis mõlema mõtted vanemate juurde.

It drew both of their thoughts to their parents.

They had always wanted someone to breathe life into the farm.

When their parents were still alive, everything seemed simpler.

But now there was a strange emptiness, as they had to decide themselves.

  • Vaidlus kestis pikalt.

The argument lasted a long time.

  • Väljas hakkas pimedamaks minema, kui nad vanemate magamistuppa jõudsid.

It began to get darker outside as they reached their parents' bedroom.

  • Seal, vanas kummutis, leidis Maarika kollaka kirja.

There, in the old dresser, Maarika found a yellowed letter.

  • "Mis see on?"

    "What is this?"

  • küsis Kert, seistes tema kõrval.

    asked Kert, standing beside her.

  • "Vaata ise," ulatas Maarika kirja.

"Take a look yourself," Maarika handed over the letter.

  • Kert avas selle ettevaatlikult.

    Kert opened it carefully.

In their parents' handwriting, it was written how much they hoped the farm would remain in the family.

The letter also spoke of a dream: for the farm to become a tourist destination, a place where people could experience the true beauty of Estonian rural life.

  • Kirja lugedes tundis Maarika midagi muutumas.

As she read the letter, Maarika felt something changing.

  • "Ehk me ei peagi talust loobuma," ütles ääri-veeri.

"Maybe we don't have to give up the farm," she said cautiously.

  • "Sellel võib olla potentsiaali.

    "It might have potential.

  • Me võiksime proovida."

    We could try."

  • Kert naeratas õrnalt.

    Kert smiled gently.

  • "Väga hea mõte.

    "That's a very good idea.

Maybe we can preserve traditions and also find opportunities for new beginnings."

  • Nad istusid köögilaua taha.

They sat at the kitchen table.

  • Süütasid lambi, mis heitis hubast valgust.

They lit a lamp that cast a cozy light.

  • Nad arutasid uusi plaane: kuidas saaksid talu elus hoida ja samal ajal oma unistuste poole pürgida.

They discussed new plans: how to keep the farm alive while pursuing their dreams.

  • Kert ja Maarika leidsid ühisosa.

Kert and Maarika found common ground.

  • Nad mõistsid, et pere pärand võib kasvada koos nendega.

They realized that the family legacy could grow with them.

So, at the end of the autumn evening, brother and sister were ready to start a new chapter both in their lives and at the family farm.

  • põldudelt tõusis rahu ja nostalgia.

Peace and nostalgia rose from the fields.

  • Tuli uus hommik ja uus lootus.

A new morning arrived, along with new hope.
