Sügisesel pärastlõunal, kui lehed langevad puude otsast ja tuul nende värve mööda metsa laiali kannab, leidis Maarja vana raamatu.
On a sügisene afternoon, when the leaves fall from the tops of the trees and the wind scatters their colors through the forest, Maarja found an old book.
The book, under a layer of dust, was mysterious and hid an ancient map between its covers.
Kaardi servad olid kulunud, tähistades retke kaugele metsa, kuhu kõik need aastad keegi olnud polnud.
The edges of the map were worn, marking a journey into the distant forest where no one had been for all these years.
Maarja vaatas kaarti pikalt.
Maarja looked at the map for a long time.
She felt it was a call to the heart of an explorer.
Ta pöördus oma sõbra Uku poole.
She turned to her friend Uku.
Uku, practical and skeptical, shook his head and said, "Why do you want to follow that old map?
See on lihtsalt vana paber."
It’s just old paper."
"Aga mõtle, Uku," vastas Maarja põlevate silmadega.
"But think, Uku," replied Maarja with burning eyes.
"Seal võib olla midagi märkimisväärset.
"There might be something remarkable there.
Midagi, mida keegi pole veel avastanud."
Something no one has yet discovered."
Maarja knew that Uku loved old architecture and history, so she added, "There might be an old bunker.
Kes teab, millised arhitektuursed saladused seal peituvad?"
Who knows what architectural secrets are hidden there?"
Uku ohkas.
Uku sighed.
"Olgu, ma tulen sinuga," nõustus ta suure vastumeelsusega.
"Alright, I'll come with you," he agreed with great reluctance.
He couldn't leave Maarja alone on such a dangerous and unfamiliar path.
Nad asusid teele, kaart Maarja tugevasti käes.
They set off, the map held tightly in Maarja's hand.
The forest was dense, the air was cool and smelled of autumn.
Maarja juhtis teed, jälgides kaardi märke.
Maarja led the way, following the map's signs.
"Vaata, siin peaks see olema," ütles ta lõpuks, osutades väiksele lagendikule.
"Look, it should be here," she finally said, pointing to a small clearing.
Keset seda seisis bunker, kaetud viinapuude ja sambla all.
In the middle stood a bunker, covered in vines and moss.
"Brr," ütles Uku, kui nad lähenesid.
"Brr," said Uku as they approached.
"Näeb tõesti nagu kummituslik välja."
"It really looks ghostly."
Äkki kostis kuskilt sügavatest varjudest kummalisi helisid, mis kajasid läbi metsa.
Suddenly, strange sounds echoed from deep within the shadows through the forest.
Maarja ja Uku peatunud, süda kõvasti rinnus põksumas.
Maarja and Uku stopped, their hearts pounding in their chests.
"Äkki on need kuulujutud kummitustest tõsi," pomises Uku.
"Maybe those rumors about ghosts are true," Uku murmured.
But Maarja didn't give up, finding courage within herself.
"Tule lähme," ütles ta ja avas bunkeri ukse, hoolimata hirmust, mis nende vastu seisis.
"Come on, let's go," she said and opened the bunker's door, despite the fear that stood against them.
Sisse astudes leidsid nad kitsalt käigu, mille seina oli peidus mehhanism.
Entering inside, they found a narrow passage with a wall hidden mechanism.
They discovered that it activated a secured door, opening into an underground archive.
Tohutult ruumi täidetud sõjareliktidest ja ajaloolistest dokumentidest – varakamber kaotatud lugudest.
A vast room filled with war relics and historical documents – a treasure trove of lost stories.
Maarja naeratas, rõõmus oma instinktidesse uskumise üle.
Maarja smiled, joyful over trusting her instincts.
Uku, täiesti hämmeldunud, naeratas lõpuks samuti.
Uku, completely astonished, finally smiled as well.
"Ma pean ütlema, Maarja, see oli väärt julgust," ütles Uku.
"I have to say, Maarja, it was worth the courage," said Uku.
Tõesti, nad olid avastanud ajaloo aarde.
Indeed, they had discovered a historical treasure.
Maarja had gained confidence, and Uku had learned that the unknown should sometimes be embraced.
Their adventure offered them both more than they had expected.
