There was a special buzz today at the Tartu boarding school.
Õpilased naasid pärast suvevaheaega tagasi klassiruumi, mille aknad avatud, et lasta sisse veel viimast sooja suveõhku.
The students returned to the classroom after the summer break, with the windows open to let in the last of the warm summer air.
Päikesevalgus mängis laudade peal ning seintel rippuvad plakatid püüdsid iga valgusjoa kinni.
Sunlight played across the desks, and the posters hanging on the walls caught every beam of light.
Kalev, Maarika ja Helin istusid ainsa klassi servas ning nende ees oli suur lapp avatud vihiku lehti.
Kalev, Maarika, and Helin sat at the edge of the only class, with a large spread of notebook pages open before them.
Kalev tundis, et täna on päev, mil peab midagi muutma.
Kalev felt that today was the day something needed to change.

Kalev hingas sügavalt sisse.
Kalev took a deep breath.
"Maarika, mul on ka ideid.
"Maarika, I have some ideas too.
Miks me ei võiks vaadata erinevaid linnaplaneerimise lahendusi?
Why don’t we explore different urban planning solutions?
Mulle tundub, et see võimaldaks meil olla loovad ja kõik saaks panustada," vastas ta kindlalt.
It seems to me that this would allow us to be creative and everyone could contribute," he replied firmly.
Maarika vaatas talle silma, natuke üllatunud Kalevi uue enesekindluse üle.
Maarika looked him in the eye, a bit surprised by Kalev's newfound confidence.
"Kuidas sa selle ette kujutaksid?"
"How do you envision that?"
küsis Maarika, ikka veel oma positsiooni kaitstes.
Maarika asked, still defending her position.
Helin astus vahele, öeldes rahulikult: "Kuulake.
Helin stepped in, saying calmly, "Listen.
Me võiksime mõlemad ideed ühendada.
We could combine both ideas.

Our project could address how energy solutions affect urban planning.

A momentary silence filled the classroom.

Kalev looked at Maarika, whose expression changed.

"Alright," said Maarika without further hesitation.

"If we can all have a say and use our strengths, then let’s do it this way."
Koos jõudsid nad üksmeelele.
Together they reached a consensus.
Kalevi süda hõiskas.
Kalev's heart rejoiced.

It was a big step for him.
Maarika õppis nägema, et koos töötades koorus nende projektist midagi suurepärasemat.
Maarika learned to see that working together could yield something more magnificent from their project.

Acting as a bridge between them, Helin felt relieved.

Thus, their friendship strengthened, and a new and optimistic school year began at Tartu boarding school.
