  • Tallinna vanalinna turuplats oli elav ja rõõmsameelne.

The Tallinna old town market square was lively and cheerful.

The sun shone warmly over the cobblestones, which were filled with fruits and green herbs in various colors.

In the air, you could hear the hustle and bustle of sellers and buyers, all calling out their offers across the market square.

Kai was a young woman who loved to cook.

  • Ta jalutas turul ringi, otsimas parimaid koostisosi Jaanipäeva söömaaja jaoks.

She strolled through the market, searching for the best ingredients for the Jaanipäev feast.

  • Maarja, Kai hea sõbranna, oli samuti kaasas, aitamas parimaid leida.

Maarja, Kai’s good friend, was also there to help find the best.

  • Toomas, nende ühine sõber, ootas turuplatsi teises otsas kohvikruusi taga.

Toomas, their mutual friend, waited at the other end of the market square with a coffee cup.

  • Kai teadis, et peab olema kiire.

Kai knew she had to be quick.

The market was crowded, and everyone was looking for the best fruits and herbs.

  • Kai vaatas ringi, silmad kiikasid letile just kaubale, mis köitis ta tähelepanu.

Kai looked around, her eyes glancing at the stalls, where goods that caught her attention were displayed.

  • Ühel letid lebasid punased tomatid ja rohelised kurgid.

At one stall lay red tomatoes and green cucumbers.

Together with Maarja, she picked out some beautiful tomatoes and cucumbers.

  • „Need on täpselt sellised, mida vajan salati jaoks,“ mõtles Kai.

"These are just what I need for the salad," thought Kai.

  • Edasi tuli on võimalik, et kõige tähtsam otsus.

Next came perhaps the most important decision.

There was a stall selling rare and expensive dill.

  • Kai armastas selle maitset, kuid see maksis palju.

Kai loved its taste, but it was pricey.

Her wallet contained a limited amount, and other stalls offered cheaper vegetables.

  • Kai pidi tegema otsuse.

Kai had to make a decision.

As Kai walked by the stall, she noticed a fresh bunch of dill, seemingly waiting for her to take it.

  • Samal hetkel sirutas teine ostja samuti käe selle poole.

At the same moment, another buyer reached for it as well.

  • Hetkeks valitses pingeline õhkkond, kuid Kai ei kõhelnud.

For a moment, there was a tense atmosphere, but Kai didn’t hesitate.

  • „Mind see tõesti huvitab,“ ütles ta müüjale naeratades.

"I’m really interested in this," she said to the seller with a smile.

  • „Kas saaksin veidi odavamat hinda?

"Could I get a slightly lower price?"

  • “ Müüja, vaatamata pika päeva väsimusele, naeratas tagasi.

The seller, despite the day’s exhaustion, smiled back.

  • „Olgu peale, tüdruk, see on ju Jaanipäev.

"Alright, girl, it is Jaanipäev, after all."

  • “Kai sai tilli õiglase hinnaga.

Kai got the dill at a fair price.

She left the market with Maarja and Toomas, hands full of fresh produce.

  • Nad istusid kohvikus, naerdes ja rääkides, põnevil eelolevatest pühadest.

They sat in a cafe, laughing and chatting, excited about the upcoming holidays.

  • Kai tundis end enesekindlalt, olles õppinud turul kiiresti ja kindlalt tegutsema.

Kai felt confident, having learned to act quickly and decisively at the market.

  • Jaanipäeva söömaaeg oli edukas.

The Jaanipäev meal was a success.

  • Sõbrad ja pere kiitsid Kai tehtud maitsvaid toite.

Friends and family praised the delicious dishes Kai had prepared.

Kai knew she had found not only the best ingredients but also gained confidence in bargaining and making important decisions.

This summer in Tallinn was special, and for Kai, it marked the beginning of a new path of skills and confidence.
