Rummu karjäär oli täna eriliselt kaunis.
Rummu quarry was especially beautiful today.
Päike sillerdas järveveel ja puude lehed sillerdasid soojast suvetuulest liigutades.
The sun sparkled on the lake's surface and the leaves of the trees shimmered as they moved in the warm summer breeze.
Maret stood at the edge of the picnic area and watched as her children, Toomas and Liis, sat on the lawn with their noses in their phones.
Maret knew they spent a lot of time on their screens.
She wanted them to appreciate the beauty of nature and the time spent together as a family.
„Tulge, alustame mängu, mida te väiksena nii armastasite,“ pakkus Maret lahkelt.
"Come, let's start the game you loved so much when you were little," offered Maret kindly.
Toomas ja Liis vastasid üksmeelselt: „Emme, me pole enam lapsed.
Toomas and Liis responded in unison: "Mom, we're not kids anymore."
“Mareti süda valutas.
Maret's heart ached.
She remembered times when they all laughed and played together.
She quietly gathered the picnic basket and thought about how to find a way to draw them away from their screens.
Siis, just sel hetkel, hakkas vihma tibutama, kiirelt muutudes tugevaks hoovihmaks.
Then, just at that moment, it began to drizzle, quickly turning into a heavy rain.
„Kiiresti!
"Quickly!
Puude alla varju!
Under the trees for shelter!"
“ hüüdis Maret ja kolme minuti pärast nad kõik istusid suure laia puu all, vihmapiisad trummeldamas lehtedele.
shouted Maret, and three minutes later they were all sitting under a large, wide tree, raindrops drumming on the leaves.
Telefoni signaalid vaibusid ja Toomase ja Liisi ekraanid kustusid vihma tõttu.
The phone signals faded and Toomas and Liis' screens went dark from the rain.
„Emme, räägi lugu vanast ajast,“ palus Toomas lõpuks.
"Mom, tell a story from the old days," Toomas finally asked.
Maret smiled and began narrating stories of how her childhood was spent in the countryside with her grandmother and grandfather.
Slowly, through the storytelling and laughter, Toomas and Liis began to feel closer to their mother and to each other.
Vihm möödus kiiresti ning päike piilus taas pilvede vahelt välja.
The rain passed quickly and the sun peeked out from between the clouds again.
Nad istusid veel natuke aega puu all, imetledes sillerdavat maastikku.
They sat a little while longer under the tree, admiring the glistening landscape.
Maret tundis, et tema süda soojenes.
Maret felt her heart warm.
She knew this moment would remain memorable for all of them.
„Aitäh, emme,“ ütles Liis sooja naeratusega.
"Thank you, Mom," said Liis with a warm smile.
„Oli tore.
"It was nice."
“ Toomas noogutas kaasa, lisades: „Peame seda sagedamini tegema.
Toomas nodded in agreement, adding, "We should do this more often."
“Maret tundis, et tema soov oli täide läinud.
Maret felt her wish had come true.
She realized now that sometimes no grand gestures were needed to bring the family together.
Piisas väikesest vihmast ja jagatud hetkest looduse rüpes.
A little rain and a shared moment in the lap of nature were enough.
Maret naeratas endamisi, kui nad asusid teele tagasi.
Maret smiled to herself as they set off on their way back.
Nii nad lahkusid Rummu karjäärist, südamed täis kaugelt kostuva lindude laulu ja pehme mullavaiba mälestust.
And so they left Rummu quarry, hearts full of the distant birdsong and memories of the soft earthy carpet.
Nad olid jälle perekond.
They were a family once more.
