Kaarel hingas sügavalt sisse ja pöördus nende poole.

Kaarel took a deep breath and turned to them.

"Ma tean, et olen palju eemal olnud," alustas ta ettevaatlikult.

"I know I've been away a lot," he began cautiously.

"Tundsin, et pean tulema tagasi.

"I felt I needed to come back.

Ma ei tahtnud perekonda kaotada."

I didn't want to lose the family."

Liis peatus ja vaatas talle otsa.

Liis paused and looked directly at him.

"Sa pidid teadma, kui raske on siin olnud," vastas ta.

"You had to know how hard it's been here," she responded.

"See pole kunagi olnud lihtne."

"It was never easy."

Sel hetkel tõusis Kaarel püsti ja läks Liisi poole.

At that moment, Kaarel stood up and walked toward Liis.

"Liis, ma tean, et olen teinud vigu," ütles ta.

"Liis, I know I've made mistakes," he said.

"Soovin, et sa saaksid andestada.

"I hope you can forgive me.

Tean, et mul on veel palju tõestada.

I know I have a lot to prove.

Aga tahaksin proovida uuesti ja saada paremaks vennaks."

But I'd like to try again and become a better brother."

Ruumi täitis vaikne talvine õhtu, ainult kaminakilke oli kuulda.

The room was filled with the quiet of the winter evening, only the crackle of the fire could be heard.
