In the corridor, he heard the other children laughing and talking.

But he was shy.

Seine Hände waren feucht, als er durch die Glastür in die Klassen kam.

His hands were damp as he entered the classrooms through the glass door.

"Das ist Sebastian", sagte sie.

Er setzte sich auf eine Bank und beobachtete.

He sat down on a bench and watched.

Neben ihm saßen ein Mädchen und ein Junge.

Next to him sat a girl and a boy.

Sie schienen nett.

They seemed nice.

Aber Sebastian wusste nicht, wie er sie ansprechen sollte.

But Sebastian didn't know how to approach them.

Es war ein Mädchen mit langen, blonden Zöpfen, die über ihre Schultern fielen.

It was a girl with long, blond braids that fell over her shoulders.

"Hallo, ich bin Klara", sagte sie.

"Hello, I'm Klara," she said.

Der Junge neben ihr, Lukas, hatte ein breites Lächeln und eine schmutzige Nase vom Spielen im Sand.

The boy next to her, Lukas, had a broad smile and a dirty nose from playing in the sand.

"Wie gefällt dir die Schule bis jetzt?

"How do you like the school so far?"

", fragte Lukas.

asked Lukas.

Sebastian zögerte.

Sebastian hesitated.

Dann sagte er: "Es ist alles neu für mich."

Then he said, "It's all new to me."

"Keine Sorge", sagte Klara freundlich.

"Don't worry," said Klara kindly.

"Wir helfen dir."

"We'll help you."

Im Kunstunterricht kamen sie in Gruppen zusammen.

In art class, they came together in groups.

Sebastian war in derselben Gruppe wie Klara und Lukas.

Sebastian was in the same group as Klara and Lukas.

Sie sollten ein Herbstbild malen.

They were supposed to paint an autumn picture.

Klara begann, die Blätter in leuchtenden Farben zu malen, während Lukas einen großen Baum zeichnete.

Sebastian nahm ein paar Buntstifte und begann zu malen.

Während des Malens erzählten sie von ihren Lieblingsfilmen und Hobbys.

While painting, they talked about their favorite movies and hobbies.

Sebastian fand heraus, dass Lukas auch gerne Fußball spielte, so wie er.

Sebastian found out that Lukas also liked to play soccer, just like him.

Und Klara spielte Flöte.

And Klara played the flute.

Sie lachten und redeten, während sie malten.

They laughed and talked while they painted.

Als der Schultag zu Ende war, fühlte sich Sebastian besser.

When the school day ended, Sebastian felt better.

Er winkte Klara und Lukas zum Abschied zu.

He waved goodbye to Klara and Lukas.

Auf dem Heimweg trat er in die Blätter und genoss das Rascheln unter seinen Füßen.

On the way home, he stepped into the leaves and enjoyed the rustling under his feet.

"Vielleicht wird es hier doch gut", dachte er.

"Maybe it will be good here after all," he thought.

Der erste Tag war zu Ende.

The first day was over.

Aber es war auch der Anfang von Freundschaft.

Sebastian hatte den Mut gefunden, sich zu öffnen.

Und er freute sich auf morgen.

And he looked forward to tomorrow.
