"Look, Lars! A sign!" exclaimed Anika suddenly.

Auf dem Schild stand „Gewinn ein Jahr Freibier!“. Lars’ Augen leuchteten auf.

The sign read "Win a Year of Free Beer!" Lars' eyes lit up.

„Das ist unsere Chance, Anika! Lass uns dort mitmachen!“

"This is our chance, Anika! Let's join in!"

Ohne zu zögern, gingen sie zum Anmeldestand.

Without hesitation, they went to the registration booth.

Die Frau hinter dem Stand lächelte und drückte ihnen ein Formular in die Hand.

The woman behind the booth smiled and handed them a form.

„Viel Glück beim Jodelwettbewerb!“, sagte sie freundlich.

"Good luck with the yodeling contest!" she said kindly.

Lars stutzte. „Jodeln?“, fragte er leise.

Lars paused. "Yodeling?" he asked quietly.

Anika zog die Schultern hoch. „Das klingt lustig! Und außerdem wäre es peinlich, jetzt aufzuhören.“

Anika shrugged. "It sounds fun! And besides, it would be embarrassing to quit now."

Lars nickte widerwillig.

Lars nodded reluctantly.

Sie entschieden sich mitzumachen, obwohl sie beide nie zuvor gejodelt hatten.

They decided to participate, even though neither of them had ever yodeled before.

Die Nervosität wuchs, als ihre Namen aufgerufen wurden.

Their nervousness grew as their names were called.

Auf der Bühne standen sie vor einem großen, klatschenden Publikum.

On stage, they stood before a large, clapping audience.

Anfangs waren es seltsame Laute, die wenig mit einem richtigen Jodler zu tun hatten.

At first, the sounds were strange, with little resemblance to real yodeling.

Doch als sie weitermachten, begann das Publikum zu lachen und zu jubeln.

But as they continued, the audience began to laugh and cheer.

Die Leute klatschten im Takt und riefen ermutigende Worte.

People clapped in rhythm and shouted encouraging words.

Als sie von der Bühne traten, traf ein unerwarteter Applaus auf sie.

Sie lachten, voller Freude über die herzliche Reaktion.

They laughed, full of joy at the warm reaction.

Lars fühlte sich plötzlich mutiger. „Vielleicht war das gar nicht so schlecht“, gestand er.

Lars suddenly felt braver. "Maybe that wasn't so bad after all," he admitted.

Anika umarmte ihn. „Manchmal lohnt es sich, etwas Neues auszuprobieren!“

Anika hugged him. "Sometimes it's worth trying something new!"

Sie gingen von der Bühne und mischten sich wieder unter die feiernden Menschen.

They walked off the stage and mingled again with the celebrating crowd.

Lars fühlte sich anders. Offener für Neues.

Lars felt different. More open to new things.

Anika begriff, dass es manchmal wichtig war, den Dingen etwas mehr nachzudenken.

Und während die Musik weiter den Abend begleitete und die Lichter der Karussells funkelten, wusste Lars, dass er, auch ohne das Freibier, etwas noch Wertvolleres gewonnen hatte: den Mut, über seinen Schatten zu springen.
