  • Ar ddiwrnod oer o ddiwedd y gaeaf, roedd yr haul yn machlud dros Gastell Caerdydd.

On a cold day at the end of winter, the sun was setting over Castell Caerdydd (Cardiff Castle).

  • Roedd Rhys a Carys yn syllu ar y torfeydd yn gwisgo dillad hanesyddol, yn cymryd rhan mewn ail-gread hanesyddol.

Rhys and Carys were staring at the crowds dressed in historical attire, participating in a historical reenactment.

  • Roedd y ddau wedi cael eu dal yn annisgwyl yn y sioe hanesyddol, wedi eu temtio gan swyn yr hen amseroedd.

The two had been unexpectedly drawn into the historical show, tempted by the charm of ancient times.

  • "Pam ydyn ni yma?

    "Why are we here?"

  • " gofynnodd Rhys, yn llawn diflastod, yn edrych ar ei gleddyf pren.

Rhys asked, full of boredom, looking at his wooden sword.

  • "Mae'n rhaid i ni fod yn ein bwyty yn awr!

"We should be at our restaurant by now!"

  • "Roedd Carys yn chwerthin, ei llygaid yn disgleirio ag antur.

Carys laughed, her eyes sparkling with adventure.

  • "Ond Rhys," meddai hi, "dyma'r cyfle perffaith i ddarganfod y castell.

"But Rhys," she said, "this is the perfect chance to explore the castle."

  • "Yn sydyn, roeddent yn synnu wrth glywed drws trwm y castell yn cau'n uchel ar eu hôl.

Suddenly, they were startled by the heavy castle door loudly closing behind them.

  • Yna roedd yn dawel.

    Then it was silent.

  • Roeddent wedi cloi i mewn.

    They were locked in.

  • "Oi, dim problem," meddai Carys.

    "Oh, no problem," said Carys.

  • "Gallwn ni archwilio!

    "We can explore!"

  • "Roedd Rhys yn cnoi ei wefus.

    Rhys bit his lip.

  • "Rhaid i ni ddod o hyd i ffordd allan cyn i ni golli ein bwyd!

"We need to find a way out before we miss our meal!"

  • "Cafodd y ddau lawer o naws wrth droedio'r coridorau cerrig caled o dan ddoeau uchel y castell.

The pair felt a thrill as they tread the hard stone corridors under the high roofs of the castle.

  • Roedd y distawrwydd yn adlais mawr, ac roedd y gwynt oer yn llithro trwy'r cilfachau.

The silence echoed loudly, and the cold wind slipped through the alcoves.

  • Yn gwrthdaro â'i anobaith, awgrymodd Rhys yn sydyn, "Beth os ydyn ni'n dringo'r twr?

Contrary to his despair, Rhys suddenly suggested, "What if we climb the tower?

  • Efallai y gallwn ni weld gwyllt eang.

Maybe we can see the vast wilderness."

  • "Er bod Rhys yn ofni uchderau, cawsai ei berswadio gan oblygiadau Carys.

Even though Rhys feared heights, he was persuaded by Carys's implications.

  • Codasant y grisiau hir coediog yn ofalus, llawr ar lawr i fyny i ddechrau'r glochdy.

They carefully climbed the long wooden stairs, floor by floor up to the start of the belfry.

  • Pan gyrhaeddasant y top, roedd gwynt oer y nos yn eu cyfarch.

When they reached the top, the cold night wind greeted them.

  • Roedd Carys, wrth chwilio trwy hen ddarnau o bapur, yn syndod dewch o hyd i fap.

Carys, while searching through old scraps of paper, surprisingly found a map.

  • "Efallai y gall hwn ein helpu," clywodd Rhys ei dweud.

"Maybe this can help us," Rhys heard her say.

  • Ond roedd hi'n dechrau nosi, a dim ond fflach eu ffonau symudol oedd ganddyn nhw i oleuo'r map dirywiol a grafio.

But night was falling, and they only had the flash of their mobile phones to light the decaying and scribbled map.

  • Gydag ymdrech cyfun, dilynon nhw'r map trwy ddrysau cudd a llwybrau troellog, roeddent yn neidio o leiaf unwaith pan gafodd canhwyllau gwynt unnot, hyd nes iddynt ddod o hyd i drws alldaith, cudd yng nghornel gymylog o'r castell.

With combined effort, they followed the map through hidden doors and winding paths, jumping at least once when single gusts of wind extinguished candles, until they found an exit door, hidden in a clouded corner of the castle.

  • Er eu bod wedi treulio amser mwynhau gweledigaeth newydd o'r gorffennol, roeddent yn olaf wedi dychwelyd adref, bron ar amser ar gyfer cinio.

Though they had spent time enjoying a new vision of the past, they finally returned home, almost in time for dinner.

  • Gwyntog a llawn llwch, wrth iddynt sgertio am adaith o'r lle, roeddent yn chwerthin ar fonedau a hen drafodaethau.

Winded and dusty, as they skirted away from the place, they laughed at their bonnets and ancient discussions.

  • Roedd Rhys yn fwy symudol, gan ei bod bellach wedi dysgu gwerth antur a digymellwch Carys.

Rhys was more animated, having now learned the value of adventure and Carys's spontaneity.

  • Ac am Carys, ceisiodd bod yn fwy trefnus, yn deall gwerthoedd cynllunio a gweithio fel tîm.

And as for Carys, she tried to be more organized, understanding the value of planning and teamwork.

  • Cyrhaeddon nhw'r bwyty, ac yng nghanol y mwgwd bwyd byddent yn cofio'u dianc er bydd wyth.

They reached the restaurant, and amidst the food mask, they would remember their escape as being exceptional.

  • Roedd yn anhygoel, ond ninnau ond ag unu go iawn o'r castell ar ddiwrnod cynnar Dewi Sant.

It was remarkable, but they had only one real exit from the castle on an early Dewi Sant (Saint David's) Day.
