Pod zimním nebem, kde obloha měla barvu olova a vzduch voněl padajícím listím, se Lukáš a Karolína procházeli po Karlově mostě.
Under the winter sky, where the clouds were the color of lead and the air smelled of falling leaves, Lukáš and Karolína strolled across Karlův most (Charles Bridge).
Kamenný oblouk mostu byl starobylý a plný historie.
The stone arch of the bridge was ancient and full of history.
Turisté cvakali fotoaparáty, zatímco místní mířili do práce nebo nákupů.
Tourists clicked their cameras while locals headed to work or shopping.
Lukáš tried to ignore the weight on his chest.
Bylo to dnes horší než jindy.
It was worse today than usual.
Karolína, jeho mladší sestra, kráčela vedle něj.
Karolína, his younger sister, walked beside him.
Začala přemýšlet nad bratrovým zdravím.
She began to worry about her brother's health.
"Jak se cítíš, Lukáši?"
"How are you feeling, Lukáš?"
zeptala se, její hlas obalený starostí.
she asked, her voice laced with concern.
"Jsem v pořádku," odpověděl Lukáš, i když si otíral pot z čela.
"I'm fine," Lukáš replied, even though he wiped sweat from his forehead.
Jeho pohyb byl pomalý a rozvážný.
His movements were slow and deliberate.
Chtěl Karolíně ukázat krásy Prahy, cítit její energii.
He wanted to show Karolína the beauties of Praha (Prague), feel its energy.
Yet it wasn't easy to ignore the distress caused by his recent diagnosis.
Karolína věděla, že s ním není něco v pořádku.
Karolína knew something was wrong with him.
She noticed how Lukáš occasionally stopped to catch his breath.
The wind from the Vltava River brought a chill, and the rustling of leaves on the bridge was interrupted only by Lukáš's short breaths.
"Bratře, jak dlouho ještě budeme pokračovat?"
"Brother, how much longer will we keep going?"
zeptala se opatrně.
she asked cautiously.
"Možná bychom si mohli na chvíli odpočinout."
"Maybe we could rest for a while."
Lukáš se zastavil a pohlédl na ni.
Lukáš stopped and looked at her.
His face betrayed all his feelings—fatigue, fear, and a bit of irony at his own stubbornness.
"Potřebuju chvilku," přiznal nakonec a přistoupili k blízké lavičce s výhledem na klidnou Vltavu.
"I need a moment," he finally admitted, and they approached a nearby bench with a view of the calm Vltava.
S trochou úsilí se posadil.
With some effort, he sat down.
Karolína usedla vedle něj, mlčky ho objala kolem ramen.
Karolína sat next to him, silently wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
"Někdy se musíme zastavit," řekla jemně.
"Sometimes we need to stop," she said gently.
"Je důležité dávat na sebe pozor."
"It's important to take care of ourselves."
Lukáš sighed heavily, as if his breath were carrying the weight of days.
Pohled na sestru mu pomohl uvolnit část toho břemena.
Looking at his sister helped him release part of that burden.
"Já vím," odpověděl, jeho hlas byl o něco klidnější, "bojím se.
"I know," he replied, his voice somewhat calmer, "I'm scared.
Ale snažím se."
But I'm trying."
They watched together as the sun, hidden behind the clouds, sent warm, muted rays onto the water.
Surrounding trees gave up their golden leaves, which slid across the surface.
Po chvíli ticha Karolína jemně pronesla: "Můžeme jít pomaleji, Lukáši.
After a moment of silence, Karolína softly said, "We can go slower, Lukáš.
Nikam nespěcháme."
There's no rush."
He nodded in agreement, realizing that he wasn't facing everything alone.
"Díky, Karolíno.
"Thank you, Karolína.
You're here for me," he said with a smile that was sincere and full of gratitude.
They stood up together and walked across the bridge more slowly.
Lukáš se učil zpomalit, naslouchat svému tělu a poznávat hodnotu okamžiků strávených se svou sestrou.
Lukáš was learning to slow down, listen to his body, and appreciate the moments spent with his sister.
Karolína was there as a guide and support.
Lukáš a Karolína zůstali spojeni v tom chladném podzimním dni, na Karlově mostě, zatímco listy padaly, a Praha jim šeptala o minulosti a naději do budoucnosti.
Lukáš and Karolína remained connected on that chilly autumn day on Karlův most, while the leaves fell, and Praha whispered to them of the past and hope for the future.
