Podzimní listí padalo kolem nemocnice na okraji Prahy.
The autumn leaves were falling around the hospital on the edge of Praha.
Chladný vánek vnášel vůni malých zlatých a červených lístků dovnitř otevřenými okny.
A cool breeze carried the scent of the small golden and red leaves inside through the open windows.
Nemocnice byla přesto rušným místem; kroky sestřiček, jemné pípání přístrojů a ševelení rozhovorů vytvářelo nenápadný hluk.
Despite this, the hospital was a busy place; the footsteps of nurses, the gentle beeping of machines, and the murmuring of conversations created a subtle noise.
Jakub postával u recepce nemocnice, znepokojen myslel na svou babičku Ludmilu.
Jakub was standing by the hospital reception, worriedly thinking about his grandmother Ludmila.
Ráno se probudil s pocitem viny.
He had woken up that morning with a sense of guilt.
Work had kept him away from Ludmila, who had recently undergone a minor surgery.
His phone frequently buzzed with work emails, reminding him of commitments that kept him at the office.
However, today he decided to be there for Ludmila.
"Jakube!"
"Jakube!"
zvolala Eliska, když náhle vstoupila do nemocniční haly.
exclaimed Eliska, as she suddenly entered the hospital hall.
Byla starou přítelkyní, kterou nespatřil už celé roky.
She was an old friend he hadn't seen in years.
"Co tu děláš?"
"What are you doing here?"
"Elisko, návštěva ludmily.
"Elisko, visiting Ludmila.
Co ty?"
What about you?"
odpověděl Jakub a úlevou si oddychl, že vidí známou tvář.
replied Jakub with relief at seeing a familiar face.
"Jsem tu za kamarádkou z univerzity," vysvětlila Eliska a usmála se.
"I'm here for a friend from university," explained Eliska with a smile.
"Jak se má Ludmila?"
"How is Ludmila?"
"Je po operaci.
"She is after surgery.
Snad se brzy uzdraví.
Hopefully, she will recover soon.
I'm afraid I’m not here often enough," Jakub admitted.
"Priorita je důležitá, Jakube.
"Priority is important, Jakube.
Rodina je důležitější než práce," podotkla Eliska moudře.
Family is more important than work," noted Eliska wisely.
Jakub přikývl a její slova v něm rezonovala.
Jakub nodded, and her words resonated with him.
Spolu se vydali k výtahu, Jakub přemýšlel o slovech Elisky.
Together they headed for the elevator, Jakub reflecting on Eliska's words.
Možná bylo opravdu načase dát přednost rodině.
Perhaps it was really time to prioritize family.
Nakonec dosáhli pokoje babičky Ludmily.
Eventually, they reached grandmother Ludmila's room.
She lay in bed, but her eyes sparkled at the sight of Jakub.
"Jakube, zlatíčko!
"Jakube, darling!
Tak ráda tě vidím!"
I'm so happy to see you!"
zvolala.
she exclaimed.
Jakub k ní přistoupil, usmál se a jemně ji objal.
Jakub approached her, smiled, and gently embraced her.
Hodiny ubíhaly, ale Jakub zůstal.
Hours passed, but Jakub stayed.
Erívalní pracovní e-maily nechal stranou.
He set the relentless work emails aside.
Vykládal s Ludmilou, poslouchal její příběhy z dětství a společně se smáli.
He chatted with Ludmila, listened to her childhood stories, and they laughed together.
Eliska mezitím popřála sbohem a nechala je samotné.
Meanwhile, Eliska bid farewell and left them alone.
Její slova Jakubovi pomohla nalézt klid.
Her words helped Jakub find peace.
He understood that being present with Ludmila was now his true priority.
Za okny nemocnice začal padat soumrak.
Dusk began to fall outside the hospital windows.
As Jakub said goodbye to Ludmila, he concluded that family is what truly fills life with joy.
A ta myšlenka ho naplnila mírem.
And that thought filled him with peace.
