Vánoční trh v Praze zářil barevnými světýlky.
The Christmas market in Praze glowed with colorful lights.
Vůně svařeného vína a pečených kaštanů se nesla vzduchem.
The scent of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts filled the air.
Bylo slyšet koledy a všude panovala veselá atmosféra.
Carols could be heard and there was a cheerful atmosphere everywhere.
In the midst of it all stood a family, but their hearts were not as cheerful.
Jakub, nejmladší sourozenec, byl trochu stranou.
Jakub, the youngest sibling, was a bit off to the side.
Cítil se, jako by do rodiny nepatřil.
He felt as though he didn't belong in the family.
Martina, his older sister, tried to keep the family together.
Vždy se cítila odpovědná.
She always felt responsible.
And then there was Eva, the middle child, who often felt overlooked.
Setkali se na Vánočním trhu.
They met at the Christmas market.
Jakub hoped that shared moments in such a beautiful place would help them forget old quarrels.
Avšak mezi stánky s ozdobami a perníky napětí rostlo.
However, between the stalls filled with decorations and gingerbread, the tension grew.
Martina a Eva se začaly přít o maličkosti.
Martina and Eva began to argue over trivial matters.
Staré neshody se vracely.
Old disagreements resurfaced.
Jakub listened to his sisters and felt his throat tighten.
Musel něco udělat.
He had to do something.
Na večeři, kdy všichni seděli kolem stolu, Jakub vstal.
At dinner, when everyone was seated around the table, Jakub stood up.
Hlas se mu trochu třásl, ale on pokračoval.
His voice shook a bit, but he continued.
"Cítím se, jako bych tu nepatřil," začal.
"I feel like I don't belong here," he began.
"Chci být částí rodiny.
"I want to be a part of the family.
Chci, abychom se navzájem poslouchali."
I want us to listen to each other."
Všichni ztichli.
Everyone fell silent.
Martiny oči změkly.
Martina's eyes softened.
Eva se zamračila, ale pak přikývla.
Eva frowned, but then nodded.
"Máš pravdu," přiznala.
"You're right," she admitted.
"Často tě nevnímáme."
"We often don't notice you."
At the Christmas market, among the stalls, the siblings gathered closer.
Emoce byly napjaté.
Emotions were tense.
But even so, when their favorite carol played from the street speaker, they couldn't hold back a smile.
At the start of the year, everything seemed difficult, but now suddenly the lights shone a bit brighter.
At the end of the evening, they promised to try.
Že se budou víc naslouchat.
That they would listen more to each other.
Jakub se cítil sebejistěji.
Jakub felt more confident.
Martina a Eva začaly chápat jeho potřeby.
Martina and Eva began to understand his needs.
In the end, they found common ground and felt that Christmas is truly a time for family.
