Lenka arrived in Praha just yesterday.

Jestliže hledá něco výjimečného, je to dnes.

If she is searching for something extraordinary, it's today.

Hledá inspiraci.

She's looking for inspiration.

Je zahlcená davy a turistickými atrakcemi, ale doufá, že během této plavby najde něco, co žádný průvodce nenabídne.

She's overwhelmed by the crowds and tourist attractions, but she hopes that during this boat ride she will find something not offered by any guidebook.

Jiří vítá ostatní pasažéry, ale očima sleduje Lenku.

Jiří welcomes the other passengers, but his eyes follow Lenka.

Když všichni sedí, pomalu odráží loď od břehu.

When everyone is seated, he slowly pushes the boat away from the shore.

Jeho hlas je zpočátku zaujatý obvyklými historkami o Karlově mostě a Hradčanech.

Z ničeho nic se rozhodne pro změnu.

"Víte, Praha má mnoho tajemství," osloví Lenku přímo.

"You know, Praha has many secrets," he addresses Lenka directly.

"Chcete slyšet neobvyklou legendu?"

"Would you like to hear an unusual legend?"

Lenka se překvapeně usměje.

Lenka smiles, surprised.

"Ano, chci.

"Yes, I would.

Co mi prozradíte?"

What will you tell me?"

Jiří ukáže směrem k nenápadné stavbě u břehu.

Jiří gestures toward an inconspicuous building on the shore.

"Tam, u starého mlýna, žila kdysi dívka jménem Anička.

"There, by the old mill, once lived a girl named Anička.

Říká se, že měla srdce jako zlato.

It is said she had a heart of gold.

Pomáhala chudým, kteří pracovali ve mlýně.

She helped the poor who worked at the mill.

Jednou v zimě, když byl mlýn na pokraji bankrotu, přišel do Prahy bohatý obchodník.

One winter, when the mill was on the brink of bankruptcy, a wealthy merchant came to Praha.

Anička ho zachránila před nehodou na hladké ledu.

Anička saved him from an accident on the slick ice.

Jako poděkování jí daroval tolik mouky, že zachránila celé město před hladomorem."

As a thank you, he gave her enough flour to save the entire town from famine."

Lenka naslouchá se zatajeným dechem.

Lenka listens, breathless.

Toto je autentické, tohle chce.

This is authentic; this is what she wants.

Loď klidně klouže po vodě a Jiří pokračuje.

The boat glides smoothly over the water, and Jiří continues.

Promlouvají o dřívějších leskných dnech, minulosti skryté v hloubce městské šedi.

They talk about the city's lustrous days of yore, a past hidden in the depths of urban grayness.

Lenka pokládá otázky, touží znát detaily.

Lenka asks questions, eager for details.

Když míjejí malou sochu, Jiří se zastaví.

As they pass a small statue, Jiří pauses.

"Tady se říká, že přání při západu slunce splní."

"Here, it's said that wishes come true at sunset."

Lenka se zastaví, zamyslí.

Lenka stops to think.

Pak řekne, "Přeji si napsat knihu o tomto městě.

Then she says, "I wish to write a book about this city.

Ale ne obyčejnou.

But not an ordinary one.

O lidech, o tobě, o Aničce."

About the people, about you, about Anička."

Na konci cesty je cítit něco nového.

By the end of the journey, something new is felt.

Jiří se rozhodne, že některé příběhy bude vyprávět pokaždé nově, aby každý nalezl něco osobního.

Jiří decides that he will tell some stories anew each time so that everyone can find something personal.

Lenka pokládá notýsek do kapsy, plná nápadů.

Lenka puts her notebook in her pocket, full of ideas.

Vltava šumí dál a s ní i pocit, že někdy je třeba jen pohlédnout nově.

The Vltava murmurs on and with it the feeling that sometimes you just need to look anew.

Dva cizinci v cizím městě našli v sobě to, co hledali.

Two strangers in a foreign city found in each other what they were looking for.

A tak Jiří každý den nalézá radost v poznávání těm, kteří otevřou srdce.

And so Jiří finds joy in unveiling the city to those who open their hearts.

A Lenka zapisuje své příběhy, aby Praha neztrácela svou magii ani v jejích vzpomínkách.

And Lenka writes her stories so that Praha doesn’t lose its magic, not even in her memories.
