Next to him was Petra, his best friend, who spun logical thoughts around her like a kaleidoscope.

Na druhém konci nádvoří stála Adela, zodpovědná za školní akce, s obavami v očích.

At the other end of the courtyard stood Adela, responsible for school events, with concerns in her eyes.

Chyběla bronzová socha sovy, drahý maskot jejich školy, který přes noc záhadně zmizel.

Vojtěch si přál stát se hrdinou školy, a tak viděl řešení této záhady jako příležitost dokázat své schopnosti detektiva.

Nemůžeme dovolit, aby to ovlivnilo všechny ty školní události, co Adela pořádá.

We can't let it affect all those school events that Adela organizes."

“„Navíc, pokud to zvládneme, mohu o tom napsat článek do školního časopisu,“ odvětil Vojtěch s nadějí v očích.

"Besides, if we manage it, I could write an article about it for the school newspaper," replied Vojtěch with hope in his eyes.

Ale cesta nebyla snadná.

But the path was not easy.

Ředitelka školy byla rozlícená a omezila pohyb studentů.

The school principal was furious and had restricted student movement.

Navíc se školou šířily divoké zvěsti, které situaci jen ztěžovaly.

Additionally, wild rumors were spreading throughout the school, complicating the situation even further.

At night, while the other students slept, Vojtěch and Petra went on their quest.

„Musíme se podívat všude,“ šeptla Petra, když prošli ukníkajícími dveřmi do zakázané části budovy.

"What's it doing here?"

wondered Vojtěch.

Náhle se objevil školník.

Suddenly the janitor appeared.

"Nebojte se, chtěl jsem si jen trošku zažertovat před odchodem do důchodu," řekl a usmál se šibalským úsměvem.

"Don't worry, I just wanted to play a little joke before retiring," he said, smiling mischievously.

Vojtěch a Petra, s pocitem vítězství a očima zářícíma nadšením, vrátili sovu na své místo přesně před plánovanou školní akcí.

Vojtěch and Petra, with a sense of victory and eyes gleaming with excitement, returned the owl to its place just in time before the planned school event.

Zdařilý návrat jim zajistil nejen potlesk spolužáků, ale také první Vojtěchův článek ve školním časopise, „Sova se vrací.
