"Here, spectators would sit to watch the gladiators."

Els ulls de Júlia brillaven amb curiositat.

Júlia's eyes shone with curiosity.

Estimava tots els misteris que guardaven aquelles ruïnes.

She loved all the mysteries these ruins held.

"Què creus que amaga aquest lloc?" va preguntar a Pere, el seu amic, que preferia parlar de futbol.

"What do you think this place hides?" she asked Pere, her friend, who preferred to talk about football.

"No ho sé, Júlia," va respondre Pere amb un somriure escèptic.

"I don’t know, Júlia," responded Pere with a skeptical smile.

"Deu ser només pedres i antigues lluites."

"It's probably just stones and ancient fights."

Però per a Júlia, les pedres tenien mil històries a explicar.

But for Júlia, the stones had a thousand stories to tell.

Durant una estona, escoltà atenta les explicacions de Laia, imaginándose la vida que havia transcorregut allà fa molts segles.

For a while, she listened attentively to Laia's explanations, imagining the life that had happened there many centuries ago.

Però als seus ulls hi havia una part de l'amfiteatre que es mantenia oculta, amb cordes que prohibien el pas.

But there was a part of the amphitheater that remained hidden to her eyes, with ropes blocking the way.

El seu cor bategava amb ganes d'investigar.

Her heart beat with the desire to investigate.

Potser, en aquell racó, s'amagava un secret només per a ella.

Maybe, in that corner, a secret lay waiting just for her.

Així que, mentre Laia estava ocupada amb la resta del grup, Júlia va donar un pas endavant, seguida d'un altre, fins que es va trobar davant de les cordes que limitaven l'accés.

"Júlia, què estàs fent?" Laia l'havia vist.

"Júlia, what are you doing?" Laia had seen her.

Júlia es va girar, sorpresa i amb el cor a mil.

Júlia turned, surprised and with her heart racing.

"Ho sento, Laia," va començar a explicar.

"I'm sorry, Laia," she began to explain.

"Només volia veure de més a prop..."

"I just wanted to see up close..."

La seva professora la va mirar severament, però després va somriure amb complicitat.

Her teacher looked at her sternly but then smiled conspiratorially.

"Entenc la teva curiositat.

"I understand your curiosity.

No et castigaré, però hi ha regles per una raó.

I won't punish you, but there are rules for a reason.

Júlia va respirar alleujada, amb la promesa d’un nou descobriment de forma segura i guiada.

Júlia breathed a sigh of relief, with the promise of a new discovery in a safe and guided way.

De tornada amb el grup, va veure com Pere li feia un gest d'agraïment.

Back with the group, she saw Pere make a grateful gesture.

El somriure de Júlia es va convertir en una promesa de continuar aprenent, però sempre respectant les regles.

I així, mentre el sol continuava il·luminant les antigues pedres i el murmuri del mar els acompanyava, Júlia va comprendre que el passat romà tenia molt a oferir, sempre que estés disposada a escoltar i aprendre de forma adequada.
