The sunlight filled the school cafeteria, reflecting off the plastic tables and creating a warm and lively atmosphere.

The students filled the space with laughter and the sound of trays slipping through hands.

At the center of all that commotion, there were three friends sitting and discussing animatedly: Oriol, Marta, and Jordi.

"We have to talk about the paella," Oriol began with a confident smile. "No one makes a paella better than my family." He took a bit of food into his mouth, satisfied with his statement.

Marta, turning to him with an eyebrow raised, said: "Oh, yeah? And what's your secret recipe, Oriol?" She knew how to spot a bluff when she saw one.

L'Oriol cuinant paella!"

Jordi, who was quietly chewing his sandwich, laughed. "I want to see this. Oriol cooking paella!"

Oriol, not wanting to back down, quickly responded: "It's a family secret. A dash of saffron here, a good fish broth there. It's quite an art."

"Has de tenir marisc fresc. Sense això, ni comencis!"

Marta savored a sip of juice and added: "Of course, but the secret is in the ingredients. And while speaking, her eyes sparkled with the excitement of discussing food. "You have to have fresh seafood. Without that, don't even start!"

"Mmm, fresh seafood, huh?" Jordi mocked. "It seems the only fresh seafood Oriol has seen is from the freezer at the supermarket."

The small group burst into laughter, while Oriol tried to keep his pride intact.

But, he knew they were aware of his facade.

Tradicions i tot això."

As the conversation began to wind down, Oriol thought quickly. "Okay, okay. I have this family recipe, but I can't share it. It's... a great-grandmother thing. Traditions and all that."

  • L'escena era comèdia pura.

    The scene was pure comedy.

Marta smiled, leaning towards him. "Oriol, I think you'll have to prove it. Why don't we organize a paella party?"

Jordi nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, a good excuse to see you use more than the microwave!"

With a mix of nerves and excitement, Oriol took a deep breath. "Okay, I'll do it. But you guys have to help me."

The following week, with the sun still warming the spring, the three friends gathered again. This time, in Oriol's kitchen.

  • Junts, van netejar musclos, van picar cebes i, sobretot, van riure.

Together, they cleaned mussels, chopped onions, and, most importantly, laughed.

Oriol found pleasure in the task and realized that the true experience was in sharing and learning together.

When they finally sat at the table to enjoy their own paella, Oriol smiled with satisfaction.

Maybe his paella wasn't yet the best in the world, but he had learned a valuable lesson and gained a bond with his friends that he would never forget.
