L'aire era fresc aquell hivern al barri d'El Raval, a Barcelona.
The air was crisp that winter in the neighborhood of El Raval, in Barcelona.
The sun was shining timidly, but the cold was evident.
The streets were full of people walking with coats and scarves, and the vibrant colors of the murals brightened the atmosphere.
In the center of the bustle, a small café with large windows offered warmth and the aroma of freshly ground coffee.
Inside the café, Jordi waited with slight nervousness.
He glanced at his watch, thinking about the years that had passed since he and Marina had a good conversation.
When the café door opened, the cold air came in along with Marina.
She smiled shyly upon seeing him, and they sat together at a table near the window.
"Hey, Jordi," started Marina, with a soft voice.
Fa temps que no ens veiem.
"It's been a while since we last saw each other."
Jordi nodded, feeling the weight of the unspoken words between them.
—Sí, molt de temps. Volia parlar amb tu sobre tot... Bé, sobre tot el que va passar.
"Yes, a long time. I wanted to talk to you about everything... Well, about everything that happened."
The waiter arrived with the menu, but they already knew what they wanted.
Dos cafès amb llet.
Two café lattes.
When they were alone again, Jordi took a deep breath.
—Marina, sé que he fet errors.
"Marina, I know I've made mistakes. A few years ago, I let work overwhelm me, and I forgot about important people, like you."
Marina el va mirar fixament.
Marina looked at him intently.
She could tell he was being sincere, but her distrust remained.
"It's hard for me to believe that you don't just need me to help with your new restaurant."
Jordi va somriure, una mica trist.
Jordi smiled, a bit sadly.
"I would like for us to be friends again, without business involved.
I want you to be part of my life, not my résumé."
She lowered her gaze, recalling the good times they had shared.
"I want that too, Jordi, but I need to see that things have changed.
Vull anar a poc a poc.
I want to take it slow."
"I understand," he responded, comforted by her honesty.
—Puc fer petits passos i demostrar-t'ho.
"I can take small steps and prove it to you."
The conversation became lighter as the cups emptied.
Rialles i anècdotes del passat van omplir el temps.
Laughter and anecdotes from the past filled the time.
Finally, as the daylight began to fade, they left the café.
Marina felt an unexpected warmth as they walked together down the street.
"Let's do it like this," she said before leaving.
—Retrobarem la nostra amistat primer.
"Let's rebuild our friendship first.
El que vingui després ja ho veurem.
Whatever comes next, we'll see."
Jordi va assentir, veient una nova oportunitat.
Jordi nodded, seeing a new opportunity.
He had realized that friendships aren't to be used as tools but are treasures to be cherished.
With this new understanding, they decided to walk toward a new stage, where the past would no longer have control over their future.
And so, on a winter afternoon in El Raval, two old friends began to trace a new path together.
