Montserrat gazed out the car window as the snow covered the landscape.

The peaks of the Pirineus shone under the winter sun.

Jordi drove cautiously across the narrow and icy roads.

Núria, seated in the back seat, was reading a guide of Catalan folklore.

"Did you know there was once a village here that disappeared?" began Montserrat, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"It's just a legend," said Jordi, without taking his eyes off the road.

"My grandmother told me this story," Montserrat continued.

"They say the winter of 1952 was very harsh and the village became isolated.

  • Mai més ningú els va veure."

No one ever saw them again."

Núria leaned forward with interest. "What happened to the people?"

"That's what I want to find out," said Montserrat with determination.

She pulled out an old map, full of marks.

The journey continued as they delved into hidden and lonely valleys.

The falling snow made the world seem different.

The trees covered in white, the fresh air with a scent of pine.

  • Montserrat sentia que el misteri la cridava.

Montserrat felt the mystery calling her.

As the hours passed, the snowstorm worsened, making the journey slow.

Jordi expressed his doubts, but Montserrat insisted on continuing.

  • La seva curiositat superava el seu temor.

    Her curiosity outweighed her fear.

  • Finalment, van arribar a un punt on el camí desapareixia.

Finally, they reached a point where the road disappeared.

  • Montserrat va decidir continuar a peu.

Montserrat decided to continue on foot.

After a long walk, she arrived at a ghostly village.

  • Les cases estaven intactes però abandonades.

The houses were intact but abandoned.

  • Hi havia traces de foc recent i passos a la neu.

There were traces of recent fire and footprints in the snow.

"But... this is impossible," murmured Montserrat as she explored.

She knew she was facing an unsolved mystery.

She picked up a piece of clothing half-covered in ice as evidence.

When she returned to the car, Jordi and Núria were eager to hear what she had found.

  • Tot i així, Montserrat havia canviat.

    Nevertheless, Montserrat had changed.

  • Ja no necessitava totes les respostes.

She no longer needed all the answers.

  • Havia après a respectar l'inexplicable.

She had learned to respect the inexplicable.

The three of them returned home as Christmas bells rang in the distance.

Smiling, Montserrat decided to keep some things to herself, understanding that some mysteries are better respected than revealed.

The mountains held deep stories, and she felt privileged to have experienced one.
