This was the third time something had disappeared.

Pieter frowns but tries to stay positive, "Perhaps someone just borrowed it?"

He turns to his friends with an adventurous sparkle in his eyes.

  • “Ek dink ons moet vorentoe beweeg.

“I think we need to move forward.

  • Ek sal die motor dophou!” sê hy vasberade.

I’ll keep an eye on the car!” he says determinedly.

  • By 'n volgende stop, 'n beeldskone uitsig oor die see, besluit Jaco om by die motor agter te bly.

At their next stop, a picturesque view of the sea, Jaco decides to stay behind with the car.

Annelie and Pieter walk down to the edge of the road to enjoy the view.

The cold sea wind blows over the cliffs, bringing salt into the air.

“It’s just me, Ruan!” laughs the man.

Ruan explains: “I was just playing a joke, the wind gave me away trying to tease you all.”

  • Jaco is verlig maar ook gefrustreerd.

Jaco is relieved but also frustrated.

Their friends come closer, and everyone starts laughing.

“I think I'm a bit more resourceful than I thought,” Jaco later says about his attempt to find the thieves.

Annelie smiles warmly and says, “Thank you for reminding us to relax a little, Jaco.

  • Ek kan bietjie meer vertroue hê.

I could use a bit more trust.”

Pieter holds his friends tightly and realizes that although there is a chill in the air, their friendship keeps them warm, no matter any little storm that comes along the way.
