Thandi smiles.

Die tuin is 'n pragtige groen oase.

The garden is a beautiful green oasis.

Sy hoop die weer bly so mooi.

She hopes the weather stays this nice.

Maar donker wolke begin inrol.

But dark clouds begin to roll in.

Sy te veel om daaroor te stres.

She decides not to worry too much about it.

"Dit sal seker net 'n wolk wees," dink sy.

"It's probably just a cloud," she thinks.

Joost stap langs haar en hou haar hand vas.

Joost walks beside her, holding her hand.

"Dit lyk soos 'n wonderlike idee, my lief," sê hy.

"It seems like a wonderful idea, my love," he says.

Maar die lug begin dreigend donker raak.

But the sky starts to become threateningly dark.

"Ek hoop regtig die reën hou op om weg te bly," pleit Thandi stil.

"I really hope the rain stays away," Thandi silently pleads.

Soos die gesin by die tuine aankom, hoor hulle die eerste druppels.

As the family arrives at the gardens, they hear the first drops.

Dit begin stadig.

It starts slowly.

"Let's find a place to take shelter," she says enthusiastically.

Hulle hardloop na 'n nabygeleë boom met 'n wye blaardak.

They run to a nearby tree with a wide canopy.

Die reën val nou vinniger, maar die boom bied genoeg skuiling.

The rain now falls faster, but the tree offers enough shelter.

Onder die boom maak Thandi die piekniekmandjie oop.

Under the tree, Thandi opens the picnic basket.

Joost slaat sy arms om sy vrou en dogter.

"Dit is die beste verjaarsdag," sê hy met 'n stralende glimlag.
