Karin and Francois walk along the winding paths of Kirstenbosch Botaniese Tuin.
Spring is in full bloom, and the air is filled with the scent of flowers and the chattering of birds.
Karin is vol entoesiasme.
Karin is full of enthusiasm.
She wants to see every flower, inhale every scent, but her pace is fast, and she's forgotten to drink enough water.
Francois, a patient friend, has already warned her to slow down.
But Karin just smiles broadly, her eyes shining with excitement.
They walk further, admire the colorful flowers, and the camera clicks away to capture the beautiful moments.
Die son hang hoog, die hitte druk.
The sun hangs high, the heat presses down.
Hulle kom by die Protea Tuin aan, 'n see van helder kleure.
They arrive at the Protea Tuin, a sea of bright colors.
Maar Karin voel skielik lighoofdig.
But Karin suddenly feels lightheaded.
She ignores it and keeps walking, determined to see every corner.
Francois kyk bekommerd na haar.
Francois looks at her with concern.
"Karin, is jy seker jy's reg?
"Karin, are you sure you're okay?"
he asks, but she just laughs and shakes her head.
Skielik wankel Karin.
Suddenly, Karin staggers.
Before Francois can stop her, she collapses onto the soft green grass.
Francois is geskok.
Francois is shocked.
Sy hart klop vinnig.
His heart races.
He immediately bends down, takes her hand, and calls for help.
Ander besoekers kom nader.
Other visitors come closer.
'n Eerstelige is vinnig daar.
A first aider is quickly there.
He uses water from his bottle to wet Karin's face.
Karin se oë fladder oop.
Karin's eyes flutter open.
She sighs, looks at Francois, and gives a sheepish smile.
"I think I pushed it a little too far," she says softly.
Francois glimlag terug, sy oë vol begrip.
Francois smiles back, his eyes full of understanding.
"Dit gebeur," sê hy.
"It happens," he says.
"Kom ons neem dit rustiger.
"Let's take it slower."
With the help of the first aider, Karin recovers quickly.
They start walking again, but this time slowly and aware of the beauty around them.
Francois tells her about the different flowers while she listens and absorbs the nature.
At the end of the day, as the warm sun sets, they sit on a bench.
"I've learned," Karin says, "that taking it all in doesn't mean seeing everything quickly.
Soms moet mens net stop en sien.
Sometimes you just have to stop and see."
"Francois knik en glimlag.
Francois nods and smiles.
"I'm glad you saw that, Karin."
The silence and the beautiful view over Kirstenbosch give a sense of peace.
They know that some lessons are worth learning.
The rest of the day was peaceful, and they truly appreciated what was in front of them, one flower at a time.
