The path up is steep, but Johan and Elmarie are experienced hikers.

Die ruwe rotsformasies en die unieke Kaapse fynbos maak die roete interessant en uitdagend.

The rugged rock formations and the unique Cape fynbos make the route interesting and challenging.

Skielik, kom daar 'n dik mis op, bedek die berg in 'n taai wit kombers.

Suddenly, a thick mist rolls in, covering the mountain in a dense white blanket.

Johan kyk om hom rond, knipoog vir 'n rukkie en sê: “Dit is net 'n bietjie mis, ons is reg.”

Johan looks around, squints for a moment, and says: “It’s just a bit of mist, we’re fine.”

"Hmm, ek weet nie, Johan.

“Hmm, I don’t know, Johan.

Ons kan amper niks sien nie," sê Elmarie, effens bekommerd.

We can hardly see anything,” says Elmarie, slightly worried.

Maar Johan hou aan stap, sy plan in gedagte.

But Johan keeps walking, his plan in mind.

Soos hulle verder stap, raak die pad minder duidelik.

As they walk further, the path becomes less clear.

"Ons is presies waar ons begin het!"

“We are exactly where we started!”

Johan kyk om hom rond, effens verleë.

“Let’s take a moment to sit and think.

“You’re right, Elmarie.

Wanneer hulle besluit om die berg af te gaan, stel Elmarie voor 'n klein wedren.

When they decide to head down the mountain, Elmarie suggests a little race.

"Kom ons kyk wie kan eerste onder kom!" skree sy en begin met 'n vinnige stap.

“Let’s see who can get down first!” she shouts and starts with a quick pace.

Johan, nou in die regte gees, besluit dit maak nie saak of hulle die top bereik het nie.

Johan, now in the right spirit, decides it doesn’t matter if they reached the top or not.

Wat saak maak, is die bont manier hoe hulle die avontuur beleef het, en die pret wat hulle gehad het.

The mist remains like a soft blanket over the mountain, but Johan and Elmarie walk eagerly down, the sides full of colorful flowers.
